Chromatic Bronze

Key Features

  • The Process: Created through precise metal heat-tinction rather than paint or PVD plating, forming a molecular oxide layer on bare stainless steel. 

  • Aesthetics: Displays a rich golden-bronze color that can shimmer with faint secondary hues (like subtle purples or blues) depending on the light angle.

Carbon Steel Chromatic Blue

Key Features

  • Appearance: Displays deep translucent blue, violet, and shifting iridescent multi-color tones depending on the angle of light.

  • Application: Often applied to welded necks, specific carbon or stainless steel heads, and select accessories like sole weights.

  • Because it is a treated high-sheen finish, raw or torched variations require regular maintenance and oiling to preserve their luster and avoid oxidation.

  • Appearance: Iridescent amber, bronze, blue, and purple hues that wear uniquely over time.

  • Models: Featured on iconic vintage lines like the Classic series and Oil Can Classics (Newport, Newport 2, Santa Fe, Coronado).

Tour Black for stainless Steel

Key feature:

This finish consists of the part bead blasted with abrasives and then treated with a chemical conversion coating that turns the outer surface into a matte black magnetite layer. It offers a non-reflective dark finish and corrosion resistance without changing the part's dimensions.

Tour Black for carbon steel

Key feature:

This finish consists of the part thoroughly buffed and high polished with compounds and then treated with a chemical conversion coating that turns the outer surface into a gloss black magnetite layer. It offers a non-reflective dark finish and corrosion resistance without changing the part's dimensions.

Satin Nickel

Key Feature:
Electroplating (Electrolytic): Uses an external DC power source to pass an electrical current through a conductive chemical bath. Nickel ions travel from a pure nickel anode (positive) through the electrolyte solution and deposit onto the target object or cathode (negative). Combined with a light abrasive blasting post plating process and you have a nice satin nickel finish that looks a lot like a stainless steel tour satin finish, but for a classic carbon steel putter.

How the PVD Process Works

  • Cleaning: Objects are thoroughly washed and degreased to remove all dust or oils.

  • Vacuum Chamber: Parts go inside a sealed chamber where air is pumped out to create a deep vacuum.

  • Cleaning/Etching: Gas ions bombard the surface to blast away final microscopic impurities.

  • Vaporization: Solid coating metal is turned into a plasma or vapor via arcs or sputtering.

  • Deposition: Vaporized atoms travel through the vacuum and tightly bond to the target item's surface.
